Today, something will happen that I have been looking forward to for a very long time. The sort of thing that gives me hope for the future and the potential of humanity. SpaceX will launch the Falcon Heavy, the most powerful rocket since the Saturn V. Were it not for personal obligations that prohibited my traveling, I would be in Cape Canaveral right now so I could see it with my own eyes.

I’m kind of pissed that I’m not there. I consider this somewhat similar to having the opportunity to watch da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa but not being able to make it due to a minor scheduling conflict.

I fully intend to make time today to weirdly cry in front of people who know I am a space nerd and watch the livestream. Launch is scheduled for 1:30PM EST.

Also, here is some nice art some people made of Making Deals with Devils. For those who have not yet had the pleasure, Jessica McEvoy and Co. nailed the hell out of it here on the NoSleep Podcast.

The first two images were created by Nate.

And this last image, which makes me again realize I should have just titled the story “Remember the Fireflies” comes to us courtesy of Vicente.

Thanks for bringing a tear to the eye of this ol’ chunk of coal, fellas.
